I am almost certain that the outstanding balance from the FSIF (Football Stadium Improvement Fund, which supersceded the Football Foundation) was around £312k. A very confusing article.
Either way, and I know some wont like this, it shows that SST did a good job. Who, 6 / 7 years ago would have envisaged CMBC putting £5m into completing the Shay? Must have taken some persuading.

I imagine having a national embarressment for a sports ground in the town was the chief persuading factor for the council. The chief thing that the SST managed was keeping solvent for all those years

Do'nt they still owe £20,000 in unpaid loans yet??
Hope without planning is about as futile as waiting for a harvest without planting

Am I right in thinking that the £190k is being paid back to the football chappies to pay for some outstanding borrowings from them and that is why it will cost more or have the courier got it spectacularly wrong and the money is what was being held back until the stand actually got re-started and so will actually mean the stand will cost less. I cant work it out from the article or any of the posts.

Sorry Bubba have to disagree - it was people power that won the day, that march on the Town Hall by Town and Fax fans showed the local politicians that there was a lot of anger about the Shay and the new CE at Calderdale knew that the Shay and Broad Street MUST happen or else CMBC's credibility will be rock bottom.
SST helped no question about that but the facts are they failed as they went bust.
SST still exists so it cant have gone bust and I doubt if it had gone bust the company directors would be happy - some of which own their own companies.
Obviously SST failed in finding the finances to complete the stand. In hindsight the aim of a not-for-profit organisation completing the stadium was too ambitious. The concept of an independent company such as SST does have its merits however once the stadium is completed.
I think when the stand is finished those involved over the years should be proud of their involvement. That includes those who have served on the Board of Directors representing Halifax Town Supporters' Trust and both Margaret Wilson and Mal in representing 'Fax Trust.
It hasnt been an ideal conclusion, but before the end of the year that bloody stand will finally be finished. A day which some never thought we would never see.

Hey I have never said that the concept of a Stadium Company rather than the Council is not the best option for the Shay provided it is run by the right people! Have to say as a user the Shay 5 a side facilities they are the best we have ever had now imo so the Council are doing a decent job so far.
The SST did help and yes those involved can be patted on the back for laying the foundations for where we are now.
If the SST still exist then it can pay the money back to those that helped set them up!

I am sure they have every intention of paying it back , every company has a business plan and I have no doubt the SST have very sensibly budgeted and set aside to repay what was loaned to them in good faith.
YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE PAST BUT NOT RELIVE IT.YOU CAN HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BUT CAN NEVER BE SURE THERE WILL BE ONE.

I agree 100%. If not, they would have been trading insolvently. Lets just hope SST get in all the money owed to them eh?
