Salford coach Shaun McRae:
"I think we are struggling to come to grips with the pace of Super League.
"We didn't have any ball and for the first 10 or 15 minutes we are finding ourselves defending all the time. Some of that is our fault and some of it is good play by the other team.
"We have just got to come to terms with the speed and intensity at this level and when we do we will be okay. With the football we did not look too bad but defensively we have some issues."
fair honest comments from the gaffer there
IF WIDNES DESERVE A PLACE IN SUPER LEAGUE.......THEN THE POPE IS JEWISH!
Both Cas and Wakefield were taking two or three drives towards the middle, then just passing it out wide. Our defending in the centres and wings has been awful in the three games we have played.

Spot on,serious positioning issues, and the gaps that just seem to appear in this area are huge!I'd like to see some stats on the tries we have conceaded in this particular area. From standing behind the sticks in the last 2 games instead of sideways on deffo makes you realise where we need to improve!Everytime tonight with cas attacking you could almost read everytime where the ball was going next!
Considering we have some big guys, imo we have been tackiling like girls!and hardly knocking the opposition back in tackles and the same going forward.Mr Nash has seriously blown up a bit in the upper body area, but boy when the crunch comes he lets himself down and just seems to stand still!

Personally I've reached my tolerance limit for watching the shirts get hammered. I realised last season that I only go to the game now to see my mates and to be honest I can do that outside of rugby. At £18 to get in + travel expenses and 5/6 hours minimum of my weekend I can think of more efficient uses of my time and money.
Bang on DR.................... Catalan away was the straw for me, and quite simply, we just haven't got any better......at all.
Poor quality stuff, and I fear the worst for our beloved club.
Time to give the kids a go....they cannot do any worse than the current team.
btw...I was informed tonight, that there is still a lot of unrest in the camp re Jacksonville

I feel the same week in, week out and also felt Catalans was the final straw, I have however like most people stuck with the club and i'm sure we can all agree although it hurts so much you just can't stop loving the club. Although it is very early doors, I fear this season will be a tough one, but we just have to look to build on it next year.
And i'm not really surprised with that if true, I think leadership is an issue, although Parker is a good player I don't think he is quite the leader Malc is, therefor Alker cannot stand there and not attempt to guide the side causing unrest amongst some of the players i'm sure.

some of your fans tonight were simply awful, the fans throwing the bottles have no place in our game same has the idiots with the flares.
i stood behind your so called fans in both halves and to be honest it was like a scene from a danny dyer programme all that was misssing was caged fencing penning your fans in.if this is what you bring to super league then you are very fortunate to have a franchise.
im sure there are decent reds fans about but not on tonights evidence,i saw no familys wearing the colours of salford only idiots from 80s football.
