He was the video ref last week at our game with leeds last week and dissallowed Jake Websters "try". He obviously thought he owed us one...

No complaints from you Scousers when Saint Ganson refs games for you, doing everything except put on a shirt and take a few runs in.

Congratualtions to the RFL. For whatever reason they didn't select Smith for most of last year, they've rectified it by selecting him twice already this year, and given you whingers something else to cry over.

Get over it and stop whinging, and give some respect to the team that had the audacity to beat you.

Long way to go yet till you choke in another Grand Final :)

Enjoy the weekend :)

The season starts in October. Until then, don't panic!

Yeah, first game of the season he was really biased against you. No, really.......

No1 Saint wrote:Smith is pathetic , at least when he refs us. He gave us nothing and let a fair bit go for the Fish men.

 He seemed to do okay for you when you played us at KR. Gave you quite a fair bit.

Typical responses when you lose a game you are expected to win. The ref did this, the ref did that. We're going to write to the RFL demanding he never referees us again. It's childish and pathetic.

This is Saints - every pass by the opposition at KR is forward and Saints never throw a forward - they call offside at every PTB yet they cant see Saints not the ref set the defensive line some 8 metres back. The fact that Anderson dictated which ref he got says much about the arrogance that runs through this club.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

i thought he was poor for both teams, the mistakes against us have been mentioned, but from where i was at least one of our tries looked to have come off a forward pass, he just doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the pace of the game.

Fair play to HKR, we were pipped by a better team on the night.
We contributed to our own downfall by not completing one set for the first 25 minutes. And struggled to contain their pace.
That said, Smith made some staggeringly awful decisions. The man is incompetent.

I have gone on record in the past saying I dont worry about referees and that 99% of the time the best team wins. I still stand by that.

I thought the penalty count was overly harsh, I really didn't think we were that indisciplined and that they only transgressed twice in 80 minutes. That is all I have to say.

I really think we could have played it smarter. We should have dropped a goal at 18-12 and tried to level it when we had the chance later.

Fair play to HKR they deserved their win.

You've got laugh at all these people making comments when they didn't even watch the game. Cheers for your useless contribution to the thread. :)

Exactly what I said at the time. Forget the ref. I don't like Smith and never will, but he was not the reason we lost. Tyhe main 3 factors were...

We lost because we played the game effectively without a stand off, and only fitting managed to get decent ball to the wide men

We played the game with only one centre. Wheeler was anonomous and should have played stand off if he was going to receive so little ball. It was an absolute waste.

The drop goal at 18-12 was sorely needed- make Hull KR have to work to get the points which would have been difficult in a game where errors were common. There is killing teams off by going for the 6 points and macho rugby. We fell into the latter. If we had taken the one pointer, it would have given us more comfort - especially with a kicker as proficient as Dobson in the side.
