I was at a party at Rose Bridge ARL Club last night and was talking to Steve Tomlinson who is a leading official at the Club. He was telling me that they had appointed Des Drummond as 2nd team coach. What a waste, surely he should be at a higher level than that - what happened at Leigh East ? and surely they could have found him a role on the coaching staff at the Centurians. (Steve incidentally played in the Mick Hogan era, and like us all thought Mick to be one of the nicest guys in the game)

It will be interesting to see how long Dessie 'lasts' at that club, good players dont always make good coaches, I think Dessie expected too much from the lads at East, Dessie has always been a fitnes fanatic and I dont think he can understand some people don't take it as serious as he does, as for The Centurions not employing him well thats only something the head coach can answer.

i personally think he would have been a good conditioner for leigh

des isnt the coach. the coach is ste bullough who invited him to take a few sessions. des was brought in at east as a fitness and conditioning coach but wasn't given a fair crack of the whip. he chose to have a go elsewhere and good luck to the bloke cos he is a good bloke and does know his stuff even though it may not be to some peoples liking.

i think des wanted to do more than a 15min warm up,trouble is wants the seasons up and running the coaches concentraite more on skills and game plans because most of the conditionings done in pre season so des thought he'd done his job
