I thought the penalty count was overly harsh, I really didn't think we were that indisciplined and that they only transgressed twice in 80 minutes. That is all I have to say.
I really think we could have played it smarter. We should have dropped a goal at 18-12 and tried to level it when we had the chance later.
Fair play to HKR they deserved their win.
Exactly what I said at the time. Forget the ref. I don't like Smith and never will, but he was not the reason we lost. Tyhe main 3 factors were...
We lost because we played the game effectively without a stand off, and only fitting managed to get decent ball to the wide men
We played the game with only one centre. Wheeler was anonomous and should have played stand off if he was going to receive so little ball. It was an absolute waste.
The drop goal at 18-12 was sorely needed- make Hull KR have to work to get the points which would have been difficult in a game where errors were common. There is killing teams off by going for the 6 points and macho rugby. We fell into the latter. If we had taken the one pointer, it would have given us more comfort - especially with a kicker as proficient as Dobson in the side.
