THE FACTS
- RL Needed a cast iron/set in stone commitment to a free weekend NOW
- A request to Football League can only be made in MARCH
- The confirmed fixture list comes out in JUNE with no guarantee of this free weekend being granted
Unless SMC took a huge gamble, the decision is correct.
Remember that TV Coverage, Hotel booking for supporters and Teams, Police cover, etc etc does not happen at the drop of a hat.
They take months of planning and months of notice.
If the ONLY time SMC would get a confirmed answer was June, and someone needed an answer - only a moron would agree to hosting the event.
This is good business sense, not one person on her does anything on a hope. You dont work unless you have a PO, you dont do anything till it has been approved, you dot every 'i' and cross every 't'.
Thats SMCs job, and thats exactly what they have done.
A decision like this cannot be made based on emotive factors. They are a Stadium Management company and they managed it correctly.
Yeah a request can only be made in March.
Doncaster, Wigan, Huddersfield, Manchester United, Man City, Hull (in the past), QPR, Watford and Blackburn have all had this problem in the past so many years haven't they

But they don't have a fair stuck around them for two weekends in october, how many more times?

I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.

Those are the facts as you see them! I see them a little differently!
- The KC stadium is a community stadium, not owned or run by the FA
- The SMC has been weak and shown no business sense in throwing away a guaranteed sellout and profit making event.
Surely the SMC's job is to maximise the value from such a fantastic facility, it has patently failed to do so in this case.

Absolutely bang on from Barnacle Bill. Mind you, don't expect anybody to believe you or Duffen!
The KC is a Community Stadium which is managed in total by SMC which makes all the decisions as to usage outside of the normal tenants requirements...FACT!
I honestly don'tthink PD could give a monkeys s*it about a so called "guaranteed sellout" in the light of the fact that Hull City's games bring more revenue into the SMC than a one off possible sell out. Are you telling me that if the game was against anyone but Australia it would still sell out. History proves otherwise. If you don't believe what PD said then tough! I do!

So, where the reasons you were defending prior to todays HDM merely another throw away comment until he wanted to come up with another poor excuse.
Wigan, Huddersfield and Doncaster appear able to accomodate these fixtures prior to Duffens March deadline.
He could get more credibility by simply stating he would rather it was City's stadium and he wanted it solely for football. This is wht he is implying.
Fortunately for the public of Hull, that will not happen (well not in the next 20 years anyway)
I think he waited until today to make a measured and honest reply as to why he could not commit to that date. If the RL supporters of Hull do not want to believe him I don't think he would lose any sleep TBH!

Edited for accuracy.
You've stolen my washing From out my back garden You've tarmacked my driveway Even though I said no You've nicked my lead flashing And weighed it in at the scrappy Oh St Helen's tatters Come rob me again

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.
