There are one or two companies where you can add a named driver & the named driver attracts a NCD as well.Direct line/Churchill I think.

Dan was 17 when he passed and went on my insurance. Cost me £1000+ . LV (liverpool Victoria) were good, also there are certain companies which specialise in young drivers, Bell, Quinn. Another company that is worth looking at is www.youngmarmalade.co.uk. Hope it helps

When I first passed my Dad was the policy holder and me as a named driver does save quite a bit but to be honest I wish I'd gone on my own as whn I did eventually get my own policy I stil had to pay a hell of a lot even though I had been driving 3 years because I couldn't build up the no claims!

As my mum said she put me on her insurance and it went up from around 300 quid to 1000 quid with LV on a group 9 car

I bought my own car (renault megane 1.9 dci) in Jan 2008 and was 18 at the time, insured myself with Bell for 2200 (This was on a 10 month bonus accelerator)

My renewal was on 11th November and cost me 970 quid

I have no no claims bonus and one accident (grrrrr if i ever see that damn woman!!!)

Many will say www.confused.com is the best however it always came out more expensive for me. Money supermarket is the best and ALWAYS put two older drivers (better to be parents with one female) on the quote as brings it down by 12-15%

On moneysupermarket.com you will find admiral is ALWAYS chepest for young drivers so go to the admiral quote and as a young driver I would recommend changed it to the 10 month plan and you should get a decent price... Then ring bell (trading name of admiral) and say this is your quote from admiral can you beat it and they will!!

One of my friends didnt get paid out by his insurance when it was insured in his mums name. Insurance companies go to great lengths now to prove who drives it more.

Remember put parents on the quote
