Anyone read the biography by Maurice Bamford, Last of the Dinosaurs?

Got the book as a birthday present today, only had it a few hours and i'm hooked already a quarter of the way in, it's a fantatic read!

I'm to young to have seen Kevin play so the book is a real insight and hard to put down I would recommend it to any Rugby League fan as a must read!!

It's a fantastic read - I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence. In other words, it is war minus the shooting.

I've been bought 5/6 books over the past 2 years and got through 1 and a half of them, just shows what a book on a good subject can do for even the most harden of couch potato

I'll read owt but it had me gripped, I thought it was very well written and Kevin's account of his relationship between himself and AJM was enlightening. In fact now that you've reminded me - I might just go and read it again!

As skillful as they are I dont think most would stand a chance against the likes of Ashcroft :BEAT:

I think the role of the No9 these days is unrecognisable to the old masters like Ashcroft. In those days it was a highly skilled role - I think almost any rugby player could play at No9 these days.

Agree with the first half, the hooker today as Stevo would say is just another half back really but I wouldn't like to see the likes of Hobson play at 9 tryin to scoot from dummy half

Excellent read. Got it for chrimbo.
When he got the accidental punch from his own prop (Stan Owen???) in a scrum at Rochdale was amusing. Told him to give up the head so he could knock out opposition hooker and hit Ashcroft too
