I don't think Goulding is a poor tackler. One on one he his fine.
It's just that IMO he makes a lot of bad decisions with and without the ball.
Smith did miss tackles he should have made last week and they cannot be justified, however Goulding came out of the line twice and left him exposed.
Goulding is still young and hopefully will learn, but as I have said previously I don't think it would be fair on him and Sam Tomkins to have them defending together.
Darrell needs to learn when to come on to help and when to stay in the line.

Worst is Gareth Hock with 10 missed tackles.
Yeah but I am sure that some people will try and attribute 7 of Smiths Tackles to Goulding to swap the situation around.
Just as an aside do you have any stats of most clean breaks by a Wigan player this season to give an indication of whether Goulding "offers nothing in attack".

I don't like bagging young players, god knows we've let enough go over the years, but why do we defend Goulding so much? The likes of Watkins is a young centre to get excited about.
I just don't think he's up to it, that's it really. He's been on the scene a few years now, ableit still being young, but apart from a few walk over tries I don't get it.

Goulding is rightly dropped. He isn't good enough, but for some reason, ala Higham, he is considered a darling of the fans.
Team should be:
Amos Roberts,
Shaun Ainscough
George Carmont
Phil Bailey
Pat Richards
Sam Tomkins
Tim Smith
Stuart Fielden
Mark Riddell
Eamon O'Carroll
Joel Tomkins
Harrison Hansen
Sean O'Loughlin
Andy Coley
Gareth Hock
Thomas Leuluai
Iafeta Paleaaesina
