The worst and most pre-meditated attack I've ever seen on a rugby field. It was never a tackle.

Forgive me if i'm wrong - but I get the feeling you didn't like that tackle Rogues?

Sonny Nickle on Robbie Mears.

It broke his jaw.

That was one of the worst i have seen, the ball had gone through about 2 pairs of hands before the hit too!

And wasnt it the week before that Milward was saying players should sue each other for things like that, then when asked about it he said it wasnt a bad tackle just "mis timed"

I dont think Mears ever played again after that did he?

Even worse...

He eventually signed for Leigh.

Mick Cass on Morley vs Leeds back at CP. Bell ringer!

Morley again on Robbie Kearns was it? GB vs Aus about 0.2 secs after kick off.

Back on track - Westwoods was a stinker, how the hell did he stay on the pitch? Dirtier than Mathers

Agreed - it was a shocker.

It still makes my blood boil. It cost us the Challenge Cup

There used to be a photo of it in the Royal Oak on Standishgate.
Has anyone any connections with the Wigan Evening Post (Bilko) to see if they could get it published or e-mailed then you could all see why I react like I do whenever this topic gets raised.

I'm sure somebody like Cruncher, Morning Glory or twosevenzero feel exactly as I do.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Is the picture of Tyrer being propped up with blood coming from his mouth?

For anyone interested it was a point of the elbow straight into the jaw - no excuse it was a blatant attack no even an attempted tackle. Many of the other tackles mentioned could be viewed as high shots but possible attempted tackles rather than a deliberate attempt to tack out a player.

No there was another one that showed the "attack".

Hepworth has both feet off the floor and the point of the elbow is in Tyrer jaw / cheekbone.

The ball is nowhere in sight, and the force of the attack lifted Tyrer off the ground.

Had that been done outside on the street it would have been a custodial sentence.
