If you look for negative things you'll find them all the time as most warrington fans do. Last season should be written off. This is his first full pre season with them and first time they are playing or should be playing to how he wants them to. It seems more of a case of players not being able to adjust or refusing to adjust.
Come off it, the results are a side issue here. We've all been watching Warrington long enough and been success starved long enough to not let two defeats worry us, it's far deeper than that, it's the manner we're going about things, on & off the field. People who have devoted an awful lot of their personal time to the club are even feeling remote from the club right now.
I don't think, you'd have had more than a handful of people moaning on here (Padders, LW, Panties, 1 x new person random, Sally - obviously not meaning it) if Warrington had started the season with say a 12-8 reverse at Saints, played at the HJ last Saturday, and lost in a similar vein, say 14-10 or similar. If we'd have all stood their and watched that, and thought 'fair enough, looks like they are well short of where they want to be right now with the ball in hand, but structure wise, it took 3 repeat sets & a lucky bounce from a kick etc to beat us, fair enough'. I'm not saying folk would have been happy, but it would have been justifiable, that the bulk of the winter had been spent fixing the obvious, and as the season went on, with the confidence in the defensive line we'd get better with ball in hand, the message, 'don't panic'.
Right now, you can give Jimmy as long as you want, but he isn't actually changing anything. He might change the odd bloke, where the odd bloke defends, the odd play might be different, but it's cosmetic stuff. I couldn't give a monkeys of Briers is on the left or the right really, that's not the difference between 6th & The Title. Until we get somebody at the club, capable of sorting out our line line speed, defensive structure & desire to defend our line, we're done for & we're at best going 'round in circles. This is where the Lowes arguamant is flawed for me, irrespective of injuries to key players, that's gameday - I'll allow him some slack for results, even though I think that's flawed, for the sake of seeing the other side of the fence I'll give that up, so we'll discount last seasons results. But he's had the players every day in training, he's had their attention now since 27 May 2008, 10 months, and there's no evidence whatsover of improvement, results aside, there's no evidence of any area of our game looking better, ball retention, attacking plays, defensively, tackling techniques, kicking game - just nothing. He's had 10 months, 3 of which, we had no games, so he exclusively had time to work on structures, and the tries we're conceding are as soft as they've been if not softer than the last six years.
