Is this Mrs Phallus person just trying to be controversial, bitter and twisted or just generally hates Salford.

Young Lady get over it because the facts are this:

1) Salford has not been in any financial trouble over the last 10 to 20 years. Don't forget John Wilkinson cannot bankroll the playing staff so lets not say it's only down to millionaire owner.

2) Sorry for disrespecting any Wakefield fans, but even the Willows is a better ground than Belle Vue and far easier to park at.

3) If, and yes I know this has been mentioned before, the relegation and promotion system was still in place we still would have been promoted as champions.

4) Never since the introduction of the salary cap have we fell foul off it, not that I mean to cast aspersions, but I would be interested to know how some other clubs managed to stay inside it.

5) Salford achieved a play-off place in 2006.

6) There was only Widnes who had a slightly larger average crowd than Salford in NL1 in 2008.

No offence taken. IMO both grounds have 'redeeming points, but both are ridicously out of date. Belle Vue has an excellent corporate facility, that is better than any of the other 'traditional' grounds. It's primary weakness is the lack of cover (which affects the atmosphere in the ground). Don't think there's a great deal in the parking - assuming both clubs have similar attendances (which they don't - yet).

Trying to remove my bias from the situation, I have been at the willows when there was been 10,000 in the stadium and not had as much problem parking as I did on Sunday. I do know the Salford area a little better though. Wakefield does seem to have a lack of permanent buildings, not just cover. The Wildcats are playing well so far though.

We were playing a big team when there was ten thousand at the Willows. Would expect larger crowds as the season continues, if the team performs better than it did at Wakefield.

Those are 'permanent' porta-cabins! A bit of a contradiction, but they will remain thers for as long as we do! :D

Good luck with move - we both need to!

Brough is the really consistent talent.

Thanks for the reminder about Brough. I have modified my original post to take account of your important comment about Danny Brough.

Although I don't consider them quite in the same league, Langer was never considered too small. Better still ask Wigan fans or with your connections Feka as to whether Obst is too small.

As for Atkins you are way off. Atkins has for the last three seasons returned an average of 1 try per 2 games, how is that hit or miss. He continues to improve and at only 23 has plenty of time to turn consistent into consistently brilliant.

I 'll bow to Rooney but that has never stopped him being a target for Hull and Hudds at various times.

Latu is IMHO about to hit his true potential this season after a brilliant WC.

It's all opinion but at least do your homework.

Obst at 5ft 9 --- too tiny.

Rob Burrow at 5ft 5 may as well pack it in then.

Widnes crowds were about the same level when they were winning trophies.

Some people have very selective memories, or may be you are blinded by bitterness over the selection of Salford as a SL franchise. If you are bnot bitter, then at least make an effort not to sound that way.

Drew (obviously), Brough, Obst, Atkins, Latu and Rooney all proven gamebreakers and all chased at various times by "BIG" clubs, they only became crap (allegedly) again when we kept them - how covenient.

What we lack is that middle group of players who give you the depth though this year that is mainly down to injuries. The youngsters coming through are good so we may bridge that gap soon. Finally we have a rare breed in Demetriou, a captain who actually leads from the front which is invaluable.

So take no notice as you shouldn't be expected tp beat a fairly battle hardened SL team on their own turf. There really are some up themselves idiots on here

Fella, no offence was intended. I accept that you have some good players, internationals too. Certainly better than our playing roster but the point that I was trying to get across is that you don't have a strong a team as Saints or Leeds.

I've always wondered why Widnes and Leigh fans directed their anger at the inclusion of Celtic instead of Salford, as I have never thought Salford added anything to SL really, except some sort of small presence in the Manchester region, before franchising was introduced. However, its way too early to say they are failing, one home game ffs. Typical Albert trolling

Widnes averaged over 8,000 in the late eighties.

We averaged nearly 7,000 in our last season in SL.

I don't want to get into stupid arguments about attendances, or the various merits of the clubs given licences, but I thought that your comment needed addressing. The majority of Widnes fans are over it and looking forward to our season in the Championship.

This is a crap thread started by a crap troll. We'll see in 3 years where everyone stands. In the meantime, clubs will have that time put put things right. If they don't then that's their problem.

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
