Many people were very worried pre-season that moving Gilmour to Centre would weaken the team in 2 areas i.e in attack with comparison to Talau and losing his impact in the 2nd row
What are the thoughts after his showing in the first couple of games?
He has taken his 2 tries very well with good "centre" plays. Is he still a short stop gap until Wheeler / Foster / Dean or other youngeter steps up to the mark in the near future, but most likely not this season though, and will it turn out to be a shrewd move by Potter?
If/when Meli graces our shores again do you think the combination would work?

I think he's slotted in pretty well, I think in his Wigan days he was pretty used to running out wide IIRC so its probably not all so new to him.
IF Meli does return I think Gilmour would probably have some more confidence in the man outside him although Armstrong hasnt really put a foot wrong it probably is in Gillys mind that he is still a young kid?

He isnt exactly playing as a conventional centre - he is defending closer to the centre and was seen packing down on a number of occasions - so I guess his role is more a second row on defence and a centre on attack - and he has proved that he is more than capable in both roles
sad to say I must be on my way So buy me beer and whiskey 'cause I'm going far away

Agree. I have posted somewhere else that Gilly is probably better than Talau at looking after a young winger and I did say at the game yesterday that Gilly (with respect to Armstrong) was sometimes doing a two man job.

So far Gilmour has proved a good centre. He has looked dangerous in attack and in both games has caused the opposition problems. His defence has been solid too.
