Quote ROBINSON="ROBINSON"The shop at what used to be Central Park should be closed immediately. It's doing no good for the club, its image or its ability to sell merchandise.
If they're going to open a new one to replace it, they should only do so when they've had a damn good think about where it's going to go, what they're going to sell and how customers are going to be treated. This is a modern sport and fans are more fickle than they've ever been. There is no place for outdated shops with bad staff.
So, where does it go? Robin Park is my answer. The Powerhouse unit has been empty for a couple of years, there is free parking, and it's next to the ground, and sufficiently close to JJB Sports, which gives us an ideal 'two fingers' up to both JJB and Latics fans.'"
i think a lot of folk are forgatting that the shop doubles up as the club Lotto office.
the office is a nice comfy place full of memorobilia .
would agents feel comfortable paying in in the town centre???
some of these agents are elderly and carry hundreds of pounds to the shop....maybe they would feel vulnerable in a crowd.
if we are having a club shop, then lets still keep the lottery office where it is.
im pretty sure the club own the building outright, so extra rent wouldnt come into the equation.
