Very, very sad times. 23 years of passionate unswerving support crushed.
Its interesting if one considers their feelings with reference to the classic Kübler-Ross Grief Cycle. In order, the stages are: Shock, Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Testing, Acceptance.
I have progressed steadily through all of these stages in the last few years an am now in acceptance.
Shock Stage - PC's 2 year extension
Denial - JC 4 year contract, and other daft contract extensions - I denied them all assuming a mis-print in the Guardian.
Anger - Castleford game at home.
Bargaining - Trying to convince myself Lowes was an inspired choice after a fantastic start.
Depression - All close season trying to believe and failing, fearing the worst for 2009.
Testing - A last chance to test ourselves against the best - St Helens away.
Acceptance - Les Catalans game. Just the acceptance that all the problems and issues that have dogged us for years still remain and there is nothing I can do about it.
