Hull are putting together a nice squad! I think realistically, they are the only team able to come close to St Helens and Leeds at the moment.

Having two fit halves playing together regularly should see us challenging for silverware. At the moment you can tell it’s a new combination but we are still managing to get the results, given time and a relatively clean bill of health I expect a big improvement. Reminds me of the 80’s Hull sides that were very reliant on the forwards.

SmokeyTA wrote:you have thackray and now moa? and Luauki is more of a second rower than a prop, a good one, one in the Puletua/Lauitiiti mold, not at their level imo, but still a good player,

im really not questioning the signing of Lauaki, i would have taken him at leeds should we not get eastwood,

but i dont see the need for Lauaki and Moa and Croker and Cusack and Manu when you have SL quality british players like Radford Tickle King Thackray etc

lets hope so, Hull have a feel of a club trying to placate the fans with signings at the moment, and as Leeds fan i can guarantee you that wont work

Cusack and Byrne are the only Hull overseas players that could easily have been replaced by British players IMO. And I would hope that next season we look to replace them with British players (despite both making good starts to the season)

The others are either of better quality (Berrigan, Crocker if he ever arrives...) or are a type of player that Britain rarely produces such as Manu.

Sam Moa is untested rookie, and im sure his wages and 1 year deal will reflect that, if he impresses he stays, if he doesn't we'll have barely lost much money.

we are still weak at right centre though, with a choice of the inexperienced Briscoe or Hall or G Horne or Whiting who while decent and solid are too slow for centre IMO

no i meant the other two! Hall and Briscoe will be good one day, but for this season i still feel we are weak in that position.
