Agree with the post.
Gone backwards and we are still going backwards.
The 2000 & 2008 world cups have been an embarrassment for GB/England.
Our playing pool of British players has halved since Super League was introduced. The RFL together with the Super League clubs know this, are not bothered about it, nor do they intend doing anything to rectify it.
Prior to Super League our best British wingman was Martin Offiah, now it's Ade Gardner. That's a massive drop in standards.
When Leeds play Manley next weekend their 6,7 & 13 will be McGuire, Burrow & Sinfield. When we played Manley 1987 our 6,7 & 13 were Shaun Edwards, Andy Gregory and Ellery Hanley.
Edwards to McGuire is a massive drop in standards,
Gregory to Burrow is also a massive drop in stanards,
Hanley to Sinfield isn't a massive drop in stanards, its falling off a cliff.
Until the RFL, Super League clubs and their Chairmen care enough to throw their agendas out of the window and put our game first then the downward spiral will continue!
There was a saying about us "Lions lead by Donkeys"
What's changed?

Why is it that on every serious aspect some """"""""""""person""""""""" I was going to say inferior being but I try to be polite, this does not concern Saints you concentrate on your team this is a Wigan thing. Obviously as you Saints who will not realise what you have done (irrespective of success) you will never be a Wigan.

We are like Manchester United known the world over. This thread is for Wigan fans to give opinions about Wigan, if you want to speak about Saints who I have a respect for but (don't know how you stay under the salary cap oh yes I do!!!!!!!!!!!) suggest you go on the Saints board.

This is for Wigan fans who I suspect will disagree with me but that is not an issue as they support WIGAN.

Your assumption of Billinge Wigan is correct, never mind what the "settlers" tell you.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

There are lots of threads here and they are totally justified.

This may be a big rant and I will apologise now.

There are so many issues at Wigan and I am not involved. However I do know from my life in business that it doesn't take much to make a difference. If you have ability you can make a difference. We saw this when Brian Noble took over we went back to basics and at the end of the Great Escape Season our defence was hard to breach and everybody was a bit wary of facing us. But for salary cap issues we would have been close to Grand Final matters. (my opinion)

Now we have gone back, whereas in the season above we had players commited and beating the others up now we are weak no method etc. why is this?

We all have opinions we need an additional prop maybe, Mathers no good obviously but more than this how can we drop and continue to drop like we are.

I have married a Wigan girl/woman, no she married me) 31 years ago and my kids born in Billinge is this Wigan??) so my loyalties are here. I am so privileged to see the great great sides of the 80's and 90's etc.

In my view the game has gone back light years since those days, the quality is very poor but the worst situation in my view is the work ethic, the present guys do not work as hard as the team I started watching and without question are no where near them in ability terms.

What we are watching at the moment is tripe, no method, not much commitment and worst of all no will to do it for WIGAN. They are playing (loose term) for the most FAMOUS and in most instances RESPECTED team in The World, so just realise it.

I have been so lucky to see the best and don't mind losing if there is effort.

After all this our game has gone back in standards years and whilst Edddie and Stevo try to bluff us about our game, our standards will slip. Sorry if this has gone away from Wigan and all I want which was the case 3 years ago is a totally committed team to WIGAN. They must realise that playing for Wigan is not like anything else, I know some other supporters will have a go here buit Wigan IS the most famous Rugby Lague team in the world. Maybe not the best but the one known World over.

When Wigan is no good so is Great Britain/England.

Feel better now you've got it all out?

Totally agree with Father Ted.

Watching now just make me realise what quality I saw iin 80's 90's and early 2000's

I was a football afn watching Bury for 30 years so when I started watching Wigan because my son was born here and wanted to go, the difference was ""Wigan on a different planet stuff"".

As they continued for 10 years or so that is what I expected. The only time he Aussies and Kiwis have been challenged is when we have a Wigan captain.

How can you have what they are saying that Leeds and Saints players cant get on. This is unreal they are playing for their country just get on and do it. If you cant do this I symphasise for you but not much.

The players are fitter, faster stronger and more powerful but the skill levels are dire - it is a big problem IMO at the minutee and I think the only way round it is working with the referee's and coaches to slow the play the ball down....get 4 or 5 players into the tackle like in Oz this way we will have to see teams use more passing and skill to get over the line rather than just barging up the middle.

Wigan's problem is like the original poster said not enough heart. It was so refreshing to see a Wigan lad in Ainscough playing on Friday night cos he wanted it, he chased down everything.

The way Noble talks about the "competition is won in October" and we are "building to peak around August/September" it is no wonder we are seeing the tripe we have seen over the last few weeks.

Let me tell you this Mr Noble the competition is only won in October if your up there with the best if it carries on we are going to be too far back to do anything just like we have been every season since you arrived.

Please, please don't buy that Saints & Leeds players don't get on stuff.
If Tony Smith had picked all 22 players from one club and they played that poorly and lost that badly there'd be a split in the dressing room and big time.
If they'd been winning they'd have been ok.
Trouble is that was never going to happen. The players are not good enough, Smith was hopeless with no attack tactics, no spirit and a defence that wasn't worthy of the description. The RFL are about to whitewash the whole thing by a "report" into the England performance.
We are so far behind the NRL now it's unreal.
Prior to Super League GB won 1 in 3 v the Aussies.
Now it's one in fourteen against them.
Thanks of course to Super Bloody Duper League!

When I saw them they were constantly in their own little groups so there could be truth in it yet I would hope the coach would be able to sort that out.
