His performance today was appauling.

What incentive is there for line officials to flag for clear infringments in future when they are not listened to?

We could blame our performance today, but we played well. The referee was a complete joke and nothing else.
If the RFL don't review his performance today and take action, any games that this guy referees in future will be a laughing stock.
I've always thought of McGuire as a good player, and I wouldn't normally wish injury on any player, but there was a certain hint of poetic justice to that.
Another classic:
You forgot to take off the "Saints Reduction Factor" when calculating the ban.

Standard suspension / Saints Reduction Factor = Actual ban for Saints player.

Therefore (2 / 3) = 0.666

0.666 < 1 therefore actual ban equals "less than 1 match".

Therefore ZERO.
My understanding was that he was equally bad for both teams.
Let's face it, a win today would have been a bonus. The game was maybe a bit tighter than the scoreline indicates, and let's hope we get underestimated on the back of it.

it would be a bit simplistic to blame the ref! he did nothing than the usual not wanting to penalise a 'big club'. we were beaten by a team with an awesome defense and some great attacking players. we were never going to overtake teams like saints in an off season were we? what was pleasing to me was that we competed for 76 mins where we could of won had we been a little less green and not forced it as much. we have loads of positives to take from todays performance and may competing with the best teams continue!

Transfer fees:
Real Madrid do it!
Manchester United do it!
now the Huddersfield Giants do it!

Sign of the times people, things change!

6 - 12 with 5 mins to go & Scoreline flattered Saints. The boys should be very proud and were very impressive today. Just a shame about Ref.

Thought the ref did ok today, missed a few but he's human. Got all the big decisions right. He had no bearing on the outcome.

The difference between the 2 teams today was finishing, Saints were clinical. Other than their tries I can't remember Saints having any other chances, in other words every time they got a chance they took it, Giants didn't.

The turning point was Finnigan being held up at 12-6 with 10 to go. One on one he should have got that ball down. Hudd had enough chances in the second half to have won but a mixture of great Sts defence, luck and poor finishing was enough to see Sts home. The scoreline flattered Sts in the end but thats the sign of a class team, playing for the full 80 and scoring late points.

THE INDEPENDANT: Today the east, which contains the biggest council estate in Europe, is poor, a place of high unemployment and low expectation. The west, which has the city centre and the university, is posh and prosperous.

i wouldnt call 5 tries to 1 a bit tight.....and if long had kicked the goals it would have been even slacker..

i will go along with mick potter's comments that the score flattered saints - though you may think him a d1ck if you want to.

Saints deserved the win. We need to improve but its do able.

Great gate. about 2800 from saints so 8500 were home based.

Lets be serious about this - the referee gave some wierd decisions both ways - but at least he had the gonads to make them.

At 6-12 the game was tight and only some incredible defence kept you out, but it was 3 tries to one at that stage - if we had a goal kicker the game wouldnt have been as tight and the Giants resolve wouldnt have been as determined.

You definately have to take into acount that for a lot of the latter stages of the game we were playing with 3 players who have less than 10 games between them and were all on the field together.

I thought the Giants were going to win after last weeks performance, but the Saints put together a performance today that was worthy of winning any game - although be it far from perfect.
