High standards aren't expecting to beat half a Wakey team, last years bottom two in Hull and Cas who have recruited poorly.
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

Exactly. Expectations are high at Leeds and Saints but yet they manage to cope.
Forgive our fans for being upset after losing to a depleted Wakefield side at home and a team that finished bottom last year at home.
Our worst start in 25 years but the expectations at the club is too high. I think it used to be a lot higher than it was - I don't think it is as bad as it used to be. I think all people want to see is a competitive side who can produce some entertaining rugby. Of course trophies will always be desired at the club but as long as we're challenging for honours every season I don't think people will be too disappointed.
So all this expectations being too high at the club is just nonsense and sounds like a desperate man looking for excuses. If you can't cope with the pressure Brian then leave. Simple.

In any business in the world, managers are sacked if their staff arn't either performing at the best of their abilities or they are restricted in their role by bad management decisions.
I think at Wigan we have both, we have players who seem to have played better when either at their previous clubs or they arnt able to show the promise that they have no doubt had.
I feel the brand of rugby which Wigan is serving up is a direct eddit from the manager (in this case BN), and the reason the players have their own agenda is that arn't all ok with the type of football, said manager, wants them to play..
I think from the comments on this message board and others is that the consensus of opinion is that we play a poor brand of rugby and it is with either a great deal of luck or players giving 100% which has papered over the cracks of an inconsistant last few years. Ok we made the play-offs, but if you had to watch a season in review of both seasons you would have to say our game and our stars/players improvement has been none existent, lockers in any other side would be a world class player by now but all that promise along with other such talent has been waisted.
Ok brian had a good record at Bradford and no one could argue about the trophies they won, but he also had a side that was constructed for him, with just a few additions and had a team which suited his big roll over other team type play, at wigan he doesnt have these type players with the exception of Feka, yet his style of play and coaching hasnt adapted to the modern type game which has seen saints and leeds flourish... and ok if he can only coach this type of game, why hasnt his recruitment drive reflected his successful coaching style.
I have been very patient in terms of giving Noble time to put his stamp on the club, but his recruitment and contract renewals on certain players is perplexing and sometimes us messageboarders dont give ourselves enough credit for our observations... but why did we need amos roberts so soon when everyone one can see we needed an enfocer type prop....
Same crap rugby, same crap after match comments, rediculously poor discipline(a part of our game I find most distasteful) poor basic skills, a team that lack a real leader, poor defence.
I am an optomist but sometimes, one has to get out the smelling salts and start smelling the b*llshit!!!!!
