This is the second best thing to happen to Rugby League in NZ since i started following Rugby League. Of course the best thing wast the RLWC 08 win
Even since the Warriors came into the NRL, and the 2005 Tri Nations win, Rugby League in NZ as been run by chumps.
If they make the changes like they have recommended in the report, i can really see the game and numbers improving. Its interesting to see Rugby League is the third most watch team sport in the country.
It is also good that the report covers the RLIF too, and suggest the NZRL takes ownership in help developing the Ineternational game. Lets hope we see more internationals against Pacific teams in the near future.
District and number of teams fromt he report:
Whangarei 47
Auckland 399
Waikato 65
Bay of Plenty 48
Coastline 37
Gisborne 14
Taranaki 14
Manawatu 20
Hawkes Bay 29
Wellington 108
Tasman 0

They are interesting stats. I can understand the 'Nil' in Tasman, but Otago? Thats pathetic. When I lived in Dunedin a few years ago, a group of us used to get together and watch the Warriors games - there certainly was a lot of interest.
