Tim Smith is one of the most disapointing players ever to hit these shores. He absolutely stunk tonight. Horrendous performance. will noble drop him? will he hell! and thats the reason we need a new coach

in 95 we won them all tuigamala, faz and paul a team that played the wigan way and won the championship in may
As much as I rate Tomkins and being a believer in "if you're good enough, you're old enough", I just hope that he's not overwhelmed by the amount of expectation that people are placing on him. The way that some fans go on about him, anyone would think he's the second coming.
No-one can deny that he had excellent games previously but would shoving him hastily into the first team when expectations are high and moral is low going to do him any good with his confidence? One man does not make a team and i'd hate him to lose confidence should the team not pick up with him part of it.

Agreed, of the 10 games we were told he'd partake in he needs at least 5 of these to be on the spin so he can get used to the pace of SL and settle in. I fear the pressure/clamour will be greater now Ainscough's just had a good debut.
Conroy - Being a Latics fan i'm already immune to watching sh*te.
Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.

That for me is now the problem. The longer noble leaves it, the higher the pressure for sam and the more likely the hype is gunna fall flat on its face. Sam is a fantastic talent and doesnt deserve this. Id leave if I were him

Tim Smith was at fault for 4 out of the 5 tries Cas scored tonight. Theres no denying that.
One question though if you have a half back who cannot defend to save his life whats he doing inside the centre?
He should have been defending out on the wing any amateur coach could tell you that.
Im not going to go back on my word I think Tim Smith can be a massive player for us if he is utlised rightly in attack and they manage to fit him into the defensive line without any mistakes.

He was doing it last week at Hull as well. Drifting out wide (hiding in my view) on defense. No clue if thats a tactical switch or what because I'm not that positionally minded but it don't matter if it's out wide or in the middle - he's being caught out.

Aye.
Personally I am not bothered if he cannot defend - most half backs are sh*t defensively. Briers, Long, Lockyer the list is endless but its the coach's job to hide the half back or the weaker defensive player in the defensive line.
We the fans have learnt just how bad Smiths defence is tonight but surely Noble who spends more than a few hours every day should have worked this out months ago. Smith should have been defending out on the wing tonight. Yet more poor tactics from Noble.
