I am convinced it will take a period of serious ill health for Fergie to go. Either that or death.
As long as when he goes, he doesn't do a Busby and try and control the side from behind the scenes.

I have absolutely no basis to my theory on this, apart from a gut instinct, but I would not be surprised to see Ferguson retire as soon as United surpass Liverpool's total of league championships. His obsession of Liverpool matches that of Karlos

That could happen, and I don't think we'll see a count down to his retirement last time around, but I suspect (should the above be achieved in the next year or two) he would be reluctant from a young squad of players with potentially so much to achieve.
