You have to be able to get your players to not only believe in your plan but to give them the confidence/respect/belief to be able to carry it out.

Coaching is only part about technique

It could also be how dumb the players are

Let's face it they are pretty dumb :D not many potential oxbridge candidates in the racks of SL

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

And yet a number of players (at Leeds anyway) currently taking degree courses...?

Other than "Look, we've got Offiah on the panel", what does he add? To me, he does nothing more than trot out stock cliches, and give banal answers to full toss questions. And he calls a certain Leeds player "Burrows", which is embarrassing. (Mind you, Cullen's been known to make that rick too).

PS How good has Barrie Mac got at this broadcasting lark? Sharp as a tack, very witty and knowledgeable, closely involved in and clearly in love with the game. More please.
Agree with all of that. I've watched Barrie over the last few years grow into his corporate speaking role at Headingley and he's really quite accomplished now.

Quote:Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

Starbug wrote:Do you mean like when saints were using 4 player to tackle it was a good thing but later in the programme he was bagging another team for doing the same

saint billy wrote:I was just about to say the same. He gave Saints priase for getting 4 in the tackle, then he was calling i think Wakefield for doing the same.

the difference was that Saints had 4 players in the tackle and were dominating the ruck - all 4 players were on top of the tackle and the ball carrier was tackled onto his back and couldnt get a quick play the ball.

In the Hull KR example he used, the 4 players were not dominant, they were all flapping around and the tackle was completed with ball carrier almost on his hands and knees, enabling to get a quick play the ball, and exposing a gap in the defensive line.

Cullen, Rea, McDermott, O'Connor....I can handle any of these....just please please please PLEASE can we move on and drop Eddie and Stevo?!! I have nothing against them personally, I just think they make our sport sound lame! Bumbling their words...the grammer they use would embarass a 4 yr old!

Especially as the Aussies are now getting Superleague matches and our commentry...all Eddie goes on about is England falling in the World Cup and can Warrington actually win something....it makes me cringe listening to it! We must look like a joke to outsiders!

Anyway, back to the topic!! I think Cullen explained very well the tactics etc behind the tries...so am more than happy for him to carry on!!

Peace out!
