We can't get relegated so let's embrace summer rugby and play a more expansive game.
on the other side of the coin are my kids who have watched since i introduced them to the game at central park. Still only teenagers they (3) and their mates have season tickets and are intending going every single game (bar catalan..cant afford) . they all have part time jobs, in some cases 2 jobs, as well as college, to fund their away days.
thats the future, and it looks rosy.
i dont think form will greatly affect a casual newby, as i think they will be more put off by the stagnant rugby we are playing at the mo. If they see good games they will be bitten by the rugby bug no matter what the results.
the ones who it will affect imo are the older fans who have been spoiled by our past success and who have grown old watching flowing entertaining rugby.
these fans are the ones who are now thinking twice about sitting in the cold, suffering 2 days of pain from their athritic joints after matches, .....they are the ones beginning to think "Is it worth the pain and effort to watch my team play awful rugby, get beaten by so called no hopers, when i can sit by the fire with my memories of yesteryear?"
if we start to lose the younger fans.......then its a slippery slope we are on
