Hi guys, I was wondering if you could tell me how to find out about the Leeds Met side.
Where do they play etc?
I don't know whether the ripples of our little club's trials and tribulations have got this far but Rochdale Hornets are now owned by the fans. We are a co-operative and have a cast iron one member - one vote ideal and we played our first game last Sunday. Yes we got tatered but when you consider that Barrow have several ex-SL players and had the benefit of three warm up games whilst we had no club a week ago it wasn't too bad.
Hopefully, we'll get past the students and then hope to get a big pay day to help our fledgling club along.
If anyone from Leeds Met wants to contact me I'd be glad to hear from them, maybe we can get something sorted for a pre-game get together.

Think Rochdale will find it very tough if Met can field a full team. Leeds Met knocked out Warrington Wizzards 38-6 a few weeks back and played poorly.
They play at Headingley Stadium unless its already in use. Then they play at the Leeds Met Campus in Headingley (about 2 minuts drive from the Stadium). If im right in saying too they used Archie Gordan on Sunday.
Ari Gold is the guy to ask though. He goes there.

There's an admirable symmetry in Hornets being re-established as a co-operative, given Rochdale was the birthplace of the Co-op movement.
Maybe the Club could consider a change of name to the "Pioneers"?
It would be a shame though to lose the "Hornets" so that won't happen.
I do hope that they will consider joining Supporters' Direct.

The game is likely to be at Headingley Stadium, that's where all the first team games have been this season.
It should be a good game, a lot of lads aren't allowed to play in the cup due to their pro commitments but hopefully it should be really close as the squad fielded at the weekend was still strong.
Are you likely to bring many fans?

The 'Pioneers' moniker was quite forcefully put to the Steering Committee as the name Hornets was deemed 'tainted' but the committee decided that the club should retain probably the best known nickname in our sport.
We have indeed become a Supporter' Trust as well. The people at Supporters Direct have been a massive help in setting us up quickly so we could compete in this season's competition.
It will be hard, we still have to win over a very fickle public in Rochdale but you don't succeed by giving in, do you?
Oh and just to answer Andy Gilder's question. No of course my surname isn't Pugwash.
My real name is Brigadier Sebastian Percival Rawlings-Polecat of the Third Pipe and Slippers regt retired.

Thanks for that Ari.
I have heard that Leeds met are no slouches and that is why I said 'hopefully' and playing at Headingly will be great even though it will probably be a smallish crowd.
We will be doing all we can to bring a good few over and if we can arrange something in a local pub patronised by the lads over there maybe it'll help us drag a few more over.
Hornets play again tonight, a postponed fixture at Oldham, then we entertain Blackpool at the weekend. By the end of the next fortnight our squad should have had a bit of a run out and be getting near match fitness.
