As I said earlier

Origami

Having said that as long as your stadium is safe and has a reasonable capacity then it should have no bearing on what level you play

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Starbug one part of the Catalans Stadium redevelopment is already underway and thats the leisure facility behind one goal.
The construction work could clearly be seen on the TV pictures. Hence its unfair to describe it as Origami.

For pics of the work going on currently re Saints new stadium

See the following link which has many pics of demolition and site clearance work on the site of the new stadium. Construction of which is due to start in late summer.

Unfair? Since when has fairness ever figured on these boards? Starbug was being tongue in cheek, tbf.

Stadium looks superb though. I hope I'll visit it someday.

Leigh's stadium could also be seen if they had driven down the by pass for half a mile from Hilton park , but it was still not taken into account last July

But as I said , it should not have any bearing on what level you play at as long as the stadium available to you is safe and of reasonable capacity

If they end up throwing any club out of SL because of stadia it will make us look stupid in my opinion

dally messenger wrote:saints is looking very likely to happen. with the recent 17,000 crowd a new stadium is desperately needed their. they will get a minimum of 15,000 average in a new ground.
salford and bradford are also looking likely as well (say 60% - 70%).

if just those 3 get new / upgraded grounds it will be very good for RL.

regarding cas / wakey, surely if they cant do it alone a shared stadium is the answer (not a merger)

pool your money and build a 15,000 - 20,000 stadium somewhere in between

or indeed wakey putting their money from the sale of BV into doing up Post Office Road is another really good idea.

I dont think they would average 15000 in a new ground ok they may have got 17000 on fri against wire who had a sizeable folowing with people i spoke to and what are they going to get against catalan, quins, celtic for saints to average 15000 they would need a 25000 seat stadium and fill it against wigan.

I fully expect you to be the next RL club to get a new facility , but at this moment you have not started ' building ' anything , therefore it is at this moment ' Origami ' , nothing else

-DAZ- wrote:Of course it would preferable and make sense from a financial point of view, but why the mad rush and pressure for all this to happen?

I hardly heard a single complaint or criticism about Wheldon Road since this franchise malarkey came about, now it seems quite trendy for fans (usually those who play in those ubiquitous, plastic, shiny stadia) to bash clubs like Cas because they can't afford to pull £15,000,000 out their ar$e.

Away fan numbers aren't dwindling, the ground isn't about to fall down, nobody is getting hurt, viewing the match is not a problem, more than half is under cover, it holds 12,000 fans, you can eat, go for slash, have a pint and park your car.

Apart from it not being aesthetically pleasing to some, what exactly is the problem?
I find it crazy that clubs like Cas who own every single inch of the Wheldon Road site get all this crap whilst fans of some clubs look down scornfully at us dump dwellers from their lofty perch despite their clubs not even owning a single screw or light bulb of their home venue.

New stadia are great , as long as they either belong to the club or are run by the club for the benifit of the club

Council ' facilities ' that are available to clubs for 17/18 days a year are most definatley not ' preferable ' than owning your own ' dump '

No problem with Wheldon road , it does what it says on the tin , it is a RL ground , tatty yes , old yes , lacking in atmosphere ? NO
