Until Cas can't get a safety certificate, Wheldon Road will continue to be a safe and atmospheric venue to hold Rugby League matches.

trouble is its probably costing the club a lot in terms of ground improvements (even small things) like an old car theres a lot of potential for things to go wrong. plus it only needs a new safety directive to be brought in and overnight it could involve a lot of work to comply with the legislation.

hull fc were forking out a lot of dosh on the stadium towards the end of the boulevard era.

also new stadium = larger restaurants, more corporate facilities, the chance to bring in new fans etc etc. you only need to look at hull to see how the crowds have risen

trouble with rovers ground is that the worst of the elements seem to come in from the humber (south) end. would that not be a better end to develop?

out of these teams, how many won their superleague licence on the promise of a new stadium withing a year or so?

None. They collected enough points on other criteria (allegedly). Stadiums aren't the only criteria. If they were, Widnes and Leigh would have been in this year. There are many many many many many other factors to consider.

Of course it would preferable and make sense from a financial point of view, but why the mad rush and pressure for all this to happen?

I hardly heard a single complaint or criticism about Wheldon Road since this franchise malarkey came about, now it seems quite trendy for fans (usually those who play in those ubiquitous, plastic, shiny stadia) to bash clubs like Cas because they can't afford to pull £15,000,000 out their ar$e.

Away fan numbers aren't dwindling, the ground isn't about to fall down, nobody is getting hurt, viewing the match is not a problem, more than half is under cover, it holds 12,000 fans, you can eat, go for slash, have a pint and park your car.

Apart from it not being aesthetically pleasing to some, what exactly is the problem?

I find it crazy that clubs like Cas who own every single inch of the Wheldon Road site get all this crap whilst fans of some clubs look down scornfully at us dump dwellers from their lofty perch despite their clubs not even owning a single screw or light bulb of their home venue.

Rupert doesn't like paying £60m to see "Super League" teams play out of toilets. A bit shallow, but there you have it. Good old Rupert.
