Can the RFL afford to lose another experienced ref ?. I dont think they can.

It all depends on whether he has had DP training in his job; if he has then it's a sacking job.

However, I cannot imagine the RFL organising such training as they cannot organise an inebriation session in a brewery !

In that case, he can plead ignorance and just get a warning.

Kind of. Training or not he is still liable, the emphasis is just on the employer more if he hasnt had some kind of awareness training. That can be in whatever form the company choose, including a simple 1 page print off to digest or a 3 day off site course.
