You have really bad hangups about winning a trial game don't you?

no hang ups here pal, just a little bit puzzled as to why Manly would request the warm up game, then request it was moved to give them more time to aclimatise after arriving last Sunday....and then put out a "rookie" team?
I still say that all 23 will get a run out on Sunday with the second half seeing a few fringe players getting most of the game time. It is in their interest to do so, otherwise they may as well have just flown straight to leeds and "trained" for 2 weeks.
Tell you what, I'll ask Des Hasler what he plans to do when I see him on Thursday night and report back to you

I here you are a big reason why people don't come on here is that true?

Nice one – attempt to move the goalposts when you're losing.

IIRC, we only win medals when sitting down or going backward. Not that that was whinging.

Presumably the Aussies only win medals when handcuffed or dragging a ball and chain behind them.

Half of the Super League teams are imports from the NRL what are you trying to say?

Well, no doubt yes, according to the definition of "half" on your planet (7 is half of 17? ). But it would be less confusing if you used Earth fractions.

Jonesy wrote:...Mintball one reasonable Olympics does not make a strong case.
It was only because England through massive money at it due to the game in England next time.

Did what? Through? Eh? Game? What game? WTF? Please could you also endeavour to write Earth-speak, your planet's dialect is too hard for us mere humans

Jonesy wrote:...How have you gone in previous Olympics?

Ah, I understand that one. Great, thanks. Anita Lonsbrough (Bradford lass). Coe, Ovett, Cram. Lillian Board. Daley Thompson. Jonathan Edwards. Such great memories. Thanks for the reminder.

How have YOU gone in previous Olympics? Mmm.... let's see;

I remember Tokyo in 1964. We got 18 medals. I appreciate this was many levels less than Australia's total of 18.

Then you thrashed us in Mexico 1968. Utter humiliation. I mean, we got 5 gold medals, and Aus got 5 gold medals, that's a thraping in anybody's language.

Similar thing in Munich 1972, we did get 18 medals but Aus's 17 medals puts that paltry total into perspective.

And then you really whupped our ass in Montreal 1976. Who can forget that. All we could muster was G3 S5 B5. Your Zero Golds, one silver and 4 bronzes really put us in our place.

Moscow 1980 was even worse for us. G5, S7, B9 as compared to Aus's magnificent 2,2,5. MAkes you wonder why we kept bothering, doesn't it?

LA 1984 you really came into your own, with 4, 8, 12.
All GB could pathetically muster was just the 5,11,21

Seoul 1988
GB 5,10,9
Aus 3,6,5

Fsck me, Barcelona 1992 you actually beat us for once, 7 golds to 5! What went wrong?

Obviously, you did well in Atlanta but as you've explained, that will only have been "because Australia through massive money at it due to the game in Australia next time", am I right?

You really should spend more time on our planet.

As a new fan of rugby league i was wondering how important the WCC is. Do the fans of the English side view it as a 'major' trophy like the Challenge Cup or is it more like the Charity Shield in soccer which is basically a friendly without too much meaning?

I am considering getting a ticket as i'd love to see the top sides from Super league and NRL, does this match genearlly get a good attendance?

It will get a decent crowd and is well worth attending.
As for how important it is, this all depends on who wins it. If the English team win, then it's a nothing trophy according to the Australians, but if Manly were to win, then all the pent up frustration Australians have felt since they choked in the world cup final will come flooding to the surface with much crowing about how crap the english are.

Good Shout.
When the Aussie wind up merchants and some in the media say it means nothing to the team involved they're talking bull. However the Aussie teams don't have the best preparation and of course being on the other side of the world it is stacked a bit towards the English side.

Get along to the game, it will be a cracker of a match regardless. Almost always is.
