Matty Johns was a good player. He game was killed off by Farrell who tried to play both loose forward and stand off at the same time. Johns had one of the most accurate passing games you will ever see but was forced down the right hand channel all the time by Faz.

I remember asking Andrew Johns how he and Matty practised to get there passes so accurate and he said they used to stand either side of the railway banking in Aus as kids waiting for the trains to go past and passing the ball to each other over the top.

That was part of the problem. He was never as good as Andrew in all round terms so was judged by Andrew's standards similar to Faz with O'Loughlin and Kevin and and Tony Iro but had he been allowed to play the entire width of the field he would of been awesome getting the long balls out to the centres. Im pretty sure Renouf was here the same year yet instead of a Johns pass he got a Farrell hospital pass most of the time

39 Games, 21 tries not too bad. I am sure we have had worst players playing centre for us over the years.
