He has plenty time on his side.
Rogues - Appreciate that Ainscough's only young but can you grade out of 10 both him and Pryce on the following criteria based on your knowledge of the both:
Acceleration
Speed
Step
Tackling
Positional play
Fitness
Attitude/Morale
The above would quickly suggest who should start if Phelps is out next week.
Conroy - Being a Latics fan i'm already immune to watching sh*te.
Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.

Absolutely no question about who should start. Ainscough.
I would give Ainscough a start even if Phelps is fit.
Mine would be Richards, Roberts, Goulding, Carmont, Ainscough.
Youth, experince and real pace in there.
It's catch 22, Pryce needs games to get back to his previous form but going off his efforts pre season he's not ready to build up match fitness. Pryce will likely improve and cement a spot in the 2nd half of the season, pushing Aincough further down the pecking order. This is the chance Ainscough will need to take so I'd give him a shot.

and if you add a match fit pryce into that once carmont retires we have power aswell, perfect backline.

Pryce needs time. When Wigan signed him it was said to be long term project. Expecting him to play only 15 months after being signed is asking too much surely.

Agreed, Richards is obviously the safe bet a fullback with Roberts just settling in. Also pairing Carmont and Ainscough gives Ainscough cover in defence but he also gets put into good positions by Carmonts great passing game.
A lot of people on here came out and said they doubted he'd ever play for us! He's taken that first step, which is a massive step btw, and now he's gotta be playing regularly in order to get confidence and form.
It's a no brainer really; no one can come back from two seasons off and be in a good vein of form straight away. Of course he's going to be slow and off the pace. He needs game time.
We are far to quick to write players off at this club. Pryce is one player who we have to give a lot of time to cause he’s got undoubted potential
