So boring rugby then yeah!
I know were only one game into the season but, we need to throw the ball about alot more. Were never going to score alot of tries if we play like that all the time. We haven't played exspansive rugby since about 2006. We was one of the best at it in 2003-2004 now we are one of the worst!

How does sensible and professional equate to boring? Throwing the ball around for the sake of it is not whats required. Briscoe had a fraction of a second to make a choice, IMO he made the right one. It was early in the tackle count and from his break we were able to put pressure on Wigans line. He could have thrown out the pass andhad it intercepted or knooked down and the break would have been negated.
Once the highlights are released on SLTV on Monday we'll be able to see for sure if he was right or wrong.

I totally agree as I have mentioned on another thread. I wasn't talking about that moment. I just mean in general, we still play far too much one man rugby with too many drives. Trying things like running at the line with a couple of runners and throwing a flat pass can cause problems especially if you have more than one runner. I also think that we don't stand deep enough when attacking.

You need to crawl before you walk and walk before you run.
After last season I think it was important the team got back to the basics. Last night we saw glimpses of a pack that was able to domintate its opposition pack. Early signs of a half back combination that could work and also a promising kicking game developing. Also very encouraging signs that we have young players able to step in and do a job this season.
We have some good ball players in the side and with time and confidence you may see a more free flowing attack develop but for now you should be happy with 2pts against a good team. Also as someone said earlier our 1st day one win for 3 years.
I dont care if we score alot of tries as long as we score more than them and I believe it is always more impressive to keep your opponents out than let them score about 6 tries and still beat them.
thought Briscoe was superb on Friday. to those who question his credentials in the centres I would say that after watching him play academy and reserve rugby in the centre, he had things to learn of course but was not lacking in reading and playing the centre position very successfully.

He was only ever tried out on our wing last season because of Sing's injury. It was only ever supposed to be temporary pending a return to the centre spot earmarked for him.
But the fact that he has never left the wing since and is acknowledged as a great prospect doesn't mean he isn't also a potentially great centre.
I think the selection dilemma will be in the centres rather than the wings once Raynor returns. One thing's certain - Agar rates Briscoe and will definitely play him as much as possible.

For mine could have slowed down to enable supporting player to get into better position enabling the pass to be decisive.
Might be wrong though, as others have said it was a split second decision.
Wot a bust though !! Sure there will be many more - some of our predators will hopefully follow through looking for those passes.
Real talent but sure plenty of improvement to come.
Worried about Graeme as centre though - watch his head when in possession, rarely even looks for where his support is, to me happy to barrel into the defence. Safe choice & strong defensively but needs to deliver more with ball in hand, mainly distribution for me !
