Drew for me. Looked a class act at times. If we had him playing behind a dominant go forward pack we could do really well this season.
Atkins impressed and so did Grix. Stosic was steady but looks a touch on the small side to me. We're really missing some size and presence in our forwards it this must be a concern for JK more so than before now with the loss of Richie Moore.
TWO big front rowers required IMHO. Not point having quality creative players like Drew, Obst, Brough and Latu if you have no platform for them to play behind.
I don't care if we win, lose or draw as long as the team gives 100% every week and each player wears the shirt with pride.

Stosic makes yards every time he takes the ball in, looks a good signing to me, runs hard and tackles hard, size is not the be all and end all don't know why so many are obsessed with it, look at Wayne McDonald and chris Feather! I'd rather have a smaller player with big heart than a big un with a heart the size of a pea!

indeed. really seems to want to graft, his first spell yesterday was a good half hour and he shirked nothing
'That is why no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party.... So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin'
can we stretch the cap and sign micheal jordan or peter crouch play them at prop then we might make some fans happy we have A BIG PROP dont hear leeds fans moan about kylie leualieu and hes the same size as STOSIC man of match for me on his workload alone
Went for Drew; in the first half it seemed like everytime he touched the ball he was causing Leeds some problems and made more line breaks than anyone else. We looked more likely to score with Drew on the ball.
Having said that Grix had a fantastic night. That moment when that Leeds travelling friend lad Allan ran at the line and tossed the ball in the air for Grix to skip out of the in-goal will probably be both one of the funniest and exciting incidents this season for me. Great effort Grix.
Uptoncat wrote:I thought Drew, just shaded Grix, everything good we did came off these two who were more than ably supported by Martin who improved on a great game last week at Wigan. Drew just had that bit extra guile and craft for me his double chip over the top in the first half was sheer class. As has been mentioned Grix's effort to get out of our in goal was superb, the strength he showed was immense, nice cheeky dummy as well to start his run off with. Blaymire is also showing the form of 2007 and I expect him and Atkins to have big seasons this year.
In the pack I thought Hendo was solid, ran hard and tackled even harder, (shame about the penalty like has been said but he wasn't on his own), Stosic got through another mountain of work and one man who gets a lot of flack on on here went really well, that man being Bibey. JD was is usual self, the part timer Blake didn't put a foot wrong and Wilkes didn't drop a ball which will please some on here!
Talking of Wilkes I was speaking to a super league player from another clun the other day and he said Wilkes is absolutely horrible to tackle, he says he always runs hard and more often than not you hurt yourself when tackling him.
I'm actually looking forward to our next match lol, 2 points out of Wigan and Leeds away and only a -8 points difference with 8 regulars missing leaves me a very happy bunny indeed. Next week sees us with a new challenge, we've gone in to the last 2 games as firm underdogs and been written off by all and sundry. We need to show the same committment and desire to work and win for each other against a so called lower side, its our first home match so that may give us some extra inspiration so lets just hope the players are professional enough to carry on the last 2 weeks good work and get a win next week.
well said, agree with that. Some very good comments on here generally, agree with almost all of the positives. Cannot doubt any player on effort from last night, with [no offence to others not mentioned] Blaymire, Stosic, Grix, JD and Wilkes carrying on from last week's effort. Drew just shaded it as he looked the most likely to create something out what was a tight & often defensive effort.
What has pleased me most so far is relatively few mistakes and silly penalties overall - whilst there were a lot last night, they seemed to be more about Ganson being strict to the point of pettiness, largely for both sides.
If you can't beat them don't join them
