Come On The Trin wrote:Positives:
- Drew - excellent game. - Grix - tireless display. - Aktins, looked very strong and made some good runs. - Good team spirit. - Good line defence, looked organised when defending. - Excellent work rate and fitness looked good.
Negatives:
- Real lack of any go forward, we urgently need TWO big front rowers ASAP. - Jay Pitts looked completely out of his depth and seemed to have trouble bending his back. - Bibey, sorry went hiding when we needed some go forward - useless lump IMHO, sorry but he's got the frame of a giant and the heart of a shrew. Simply not SL standard. Putting far too much pressure on Wilkes and Stosic. - Poor ball retention, needs improving. - Discipline, needs to improve. - Silly penalties - still giving away silly needless pens and piggy backing teams out of their own half far too easily - STILL.
Summary:
We can take a lot of positives from last nights game, but IMHO Leeds were there for the taking. They were very average IMHO last night and although they defended well I don't feel we really went at them. We won't have a better chance of beating Leeds at Headingly as we had last night.
Soft tackling let in big Ali, a silly mistake allowed them to score their second and back to back pens on our own line gifted them their 3rd when in all fairness we were on the back foot.
We lacked go forward and just didn't seem to have anyone other than Drew or Atkins who could break the Leeds line.
I don't think we'd have scored if we were still playing now I'm afriad to say and we were asking far too much from Drew to work behind a back offering no go forward whatsoever.
Disappointing in many ways, but lots of positives to take from it.
Truly staggered by that comment!
If anyone is there for the taking at the moment, it is us, and the fact that we were competitive against the current champions, and managed to complete only our second SL win at Wigan, belies our current problems.
For anyone to suggest that we 'should' have won at Headingley in these circumstances shows an element of arrogance that is not generally associated with Wakey fans.
We went, we tried, we failed - but we held our pride and will take great heart from the game. I for one have no issues with any player in a Wakey shirt last night!

I thought our effort was superb last night and with a couple of players back we may have won that last night. I didnt think Leeds looked great at all whether it was us the ref that made them that way is up for debate. Im confident of 2 points next sunday and hopefully some players back

Cant agree "fully" with that TRB,
Yes the fact that we were competitive v leeds belies our current problems given last years record, however two of leeds try's came from mistakes (one try directly), and we had plently of pressure on there line with no affect.
What these people and I are trying to say is that we will not have a better chance of beating leeds and perhaps with obst a little luck or abit smarter rugby leeds were definetly there for the taking last night during the game, we could have won.
Neither do I have any issues way the wakey players played last night, however with a little luck or perhaps obst we had a big chance, and i know alot of fans stood near me felt the same

We will have a better chance when some players are back. Daft thing to say that.

Fair enough, but, as the Loiners have stated, we can only run with what we have and, TBF, 5-days after such a big effort as Wigan was also going to add to the difficulties.
FWIW I do not blame Blaymire at all for the second try. It was one heck of a kick, but I do think the players around were a little too slow reacting.
As ever though, with that bounce and most of the rest, we got little luck - Jammie Leeds!
We'll do 'em this year at BV though - I'll put a fiver on that (with a Wakey fan only) now!

I guarantee that if Sinfield was wearing a Wakefield shirt you would not make a comment like that.
And for what its worth, a scone in Betty's always stand out to me. Got to have a scone in Betty's...

interesting opinion but thats all it is
and its based on watching the player regularly is it ????? more than say 2 a season.
Remind me how many SL winners rings and WCC winners medals has he acquired... say compared to O`Loughlin or even your own worst player even
