laying on and slowing down in the tackle is the preserve of poor attacking sides, it leads to dull turgid games, thats the NRL are looking to change it, people dont want to watch it

Oh man....five year olds have a better understanding of the game!
i've played and watched the game for 25 years mate so you can blow that on out of your backside....lol
i'm watching last nights saints v warrington game now on replay...
having watched 3 complete sets of 6,2 wire,1saints, most tackles, from the point where both the man with the ball and the tacklers hit the deck,i counted a 3 or 4 count before the tacklers got off the man...
most of the time the tacklers could have got off their man after a 2 count...but chose to lay on for an extra second or 2..
and this morning we have posts about laying on.....

Having played the game for so long even you know the count is 4

It certainly needed to be longer than some of last seasons games and I think the ref at last nights saints match has the timing about right ( which is all he got right)
BUT, its all about consistency.
In the two games Ive seen the refs are certainly a lot more penalty shy.

Which is weird because Leeds and Saints are probably the two best in the league at it.

If too long is allowed, then yes, it can be boring. I'm not advocating an unlimited amount of time on the ground though, just more than has been allowed in recent seasons.

If more lying on means less penalties, then I'm all for it. May force the attack to swing it wide rather than dashing from dummy half and running into the retreating tackler.
