I agree he didn.t look out of place, took a few good high balls. Nice side step and swerve for his try.
The only thing I was worried about he took a few hard tackles and looked a bit dazed from the once or twice... now he knows whats required for superleague. Defensively he was much better that Warringtons Penny.

That's not hard!
Played well, didn't have a lot of the ball, but what he did do, he did well.
a few weeks ago acertain wigan fan on here was sugggesting that cameron phelps would be a good signing for saints offering cover for the backs!
wasn't it far better seeing a local lad from the accademy taking his chance of playing in the first team, rather than a washed up aussie topping up his pension in super league?
armstrong had a good game.just the one mistake but better players than him lose the ball, defended well, fielded the kicks well and rounded the night off with a good try.i'm not going ott about him yet,he's got a long way to go.but it gave me great satisfaction seeing a local lad making a debut like that.

I was encouraged by Armstrong's performance. He worked hard, tackled well, caught the ball, made some good moves, ran when he got the chance and going back for the ball to score his try showed he was watching and thinking quickly. He didn't get as much pressure as I thought he might, given that we were known to have a cobbled together left flank, but even so I thought he dealt with what he got very well. He made one mistake, of course, but then pretty much the whole team were making mistakes and he's bound to make more mistakes than the others over the long haul given that he's an inexperienced player.
But I thought he made a good showing and has potential. And the try will be a real boost for his confidence, which can only be a good thing.
I thought he did very well in his debut in a team that didn't get going for 50 minutes, only 1 mistake, but for me there was a definite hint of a Wire hand in the tackle so he can be excused that. Fielded kicks well, defended well on our line and finished his try well.
