That was a cracking game.

Was it the one we came back to win it 27-21 or summat like that ?

Touchline conversion from Phil Johnson hitting post and crossbar to go into the lead?

One of those unlikely victories for Leigh v Stains I am sure resulted in Sonny Nickle having to go off with Hyperthermia.

The Steve Warburton try was a cracker. It was a pity Rochdale wanted so much for him, because he looked a tricky centre.

The 93-94 season was a laugh a minute. That victory at Odsal left all the Bradford fans shellshocked!!

yup Jonno told me that they had brought in Mike Ford to replace him and he was a tad 'bothered' so when he came on in the second half he had a blinder and that goal - whilst not as far out and as close to the touchline as Jonno makes out  is still a beaut and rattled the far upright before cannonng over the crossbar, Elia was outstanding for Saints, we had Brian Dunn on debut,Derek Pyke also had a great game and laid the foundation for the win with a classic props dispay (even though he was in the 2nd row) driving th ball in turning in the tackle and offloading.

I wish we could see classic ball-playing forwards like Derek Pyke these days. The nearest player I've seen to have those skills in the modern game is Danny Sculthorpe.

These days with his array of passes, Pyke would be playing stand-off!

Looking forward to next season already!

Are forwards allowed to pass now? I thought there was a rule brought in about 15 years ago whereby they were only allowed to drive the ball in.

Pyke had a cracking pair of hands and was very underrated outside of Leigh.

True, but having once ran into his arm in a game of tig and pass, I can confirm he was definitely made of prop forward material.

In 93/94 we won two games the whole season, one was against saints, the other against bradford.

The title ended up wigan, saints and bradford all equal on points with the pies winning on points difference.

I remember thinking that life didn't get any crueller than that.
