This puzzled me too, considering Gardner is safe as houses under the high ball.
Rather than concentrating on their own strong side, ie, Kings side (who was up against Gidley whos awesome in defense), they should have tried to exploit saints make shift left side, consiting of Gilmour and Armstrong. Only a clueless coach like Lowes would make such a schoolboy error
