Agreed. With what happened to Carney and Crocker, I would have thought that any club worth its salt would have sought advice on the possible risks before going ahead and definitely before announcing it. Fair enough if the club then decide to take a punt and it getrs refused but I'd have advised them not to touch Bird with a bargepole. (TBH I'd have urged caution but a quicker application with Crocker too)

Would it be too early to assume we could be hearing something on Crocker by this time next week?
Surely we there must be some word on Moa, but then again Eastwood is still in limbo.

A Catalans spokesman confirmed today that Bird had returned to Australia and general manager Christophe Levy said the club had ruled him out of this weekend's game. "We knew about this before he signed for us,'' Levy told Sky Sports News.
"We had hoped to fly him back in time for Sunday's game but it has not been possible.''
Bird is also due to return to Sydney for the court case, but Catalans expect him back from a pre-trial meeting and to be available when they host Bradford on March 21, Sky reported. They also planned to take him to Leeds six days later.

winning like never before. decoys. mouse traps. chicken wings. lollie pops. shepperds. the crusher. grapples. big league. In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11
