It has to be said, given the situations with other players, this was a touch predictable. The concern I would have had all along is that, even if the charges of assault etc are shaky, the charges of lying to police might well be enough to terminally derail the visa process. He could easily end up not making it over here this season now. If that happens, and he is not guilty of the serious charges, it's pretty likely that he would just sign with an Aussie club for 2010.

1. Bird would be denied a visa
2. Odsal will never be re-developed

No. Because he doesn't have a visa, his contract can't be registered with the RFL.
