the day of the whitehaven decider was a thurs and my sister was at school and there was no way she would miss that match.
at about 11:30 she put her hand up to inform the teacher about an imaginary docs appointment and she would have to leave.
within a minute 20 other kids had done something similiar and a class of 30 became 10.
she became part of the 6000 strong convoy heading to cumbria.

Fred, do you know who bought Telvista's library when they went belly up? They covered every 82 tour match and lots of matches around 81 to about 84 when they went under? Telvista were a Yorkshire company based close to Yorkshire TV.

finest rugby day of my life.
have you got that dvd fred?
Funny thing is, the crowd was officially announced as a little over 5000!!
The Cas CC game was a huge dissappointment. The elements prevented Leigh from going to Wembley that year, and 12000 pyssed wet souls went home absolutely gutted.
There was some fine sides then, and some traditional clubs like Cas and Barrow, was two of them!!

Televista was owned by a guy called Whitford he was the co-founder of Sheffield Eagles (remember them Charlie ), when Televista went belly up in 1984 they were taken over by The Sports Technology Group, which dd lots of business with different sports (RL include) on video stats and the like, but I cant find any more reference to them after 1999, it would appear they also went 'west' and the 'trace' would appear to stop thier but I will continue digging.
