No there is no cure either surgical or medical. It is a serious, chronic, inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract.
This results in the intestines being swollen and ulcerated, which leads to abdominal pain, cramping, persistent diarrhoea, weight loss and rectal bleeding.
Every patient though is different in the way and degree Crohn's affects them. It can be controlled by medication and the sufferer can remain in remission for long periods

what matters most is that its been diagnosed and I hope that it can be controlled by his diet, its no consolation to richard just getting to grips with his career tho

I fear you may be right although it does depend on the severity. The problem is if it's bad it stops you eating and digesting properly which won't allow Rich to regain the bulk he needs.
