Why? These two would be two of the first names on my team sheet.

i'd go for either or tbh.

Hicks needs to be on the right wing, its his best position by a country mile.

Reardon needs to get his lazy ass back in training and quick.

Cant see Bridge, Riley or Penny at Full Back so it must be Hicks.

Who plays right wing? Dont think we can go with Riley if Penny is on the left as it makes us too lightweight. Bridge cant play on the wing or at centre so Johnson will be right centre. It must be riley on the right wing with Bridge on the bench.

King Left centre.

The rest of the team picks itself really. Expect Morley and Carvell to be starting props.

Higham hooker.

Monaghan and Briers in the halves.

Benny and Louis second row and Vinny at loose.

subs.

Rauhihi
Wood
Bridge
Blythe/harrison

I must admit im worried with both Penny and Riley in the same team.

Unless your doing this on purpose, you really are being stupid.

What on earth is the problem with Riley & Penny on the wings ? Riley especially ? a. He's up against a smaller, more inexperienced kid and b. He probably had his best game at Saints (which he & Penny were on the wings), nevermind the fact that he was arguably one of Warringtons best players last year, consistency wise.

Why the obsession with needing Bridge on the bench. Your backline is covered by having Blythe on the bench. He could just as easily slot in at centre and move PJ to the wing, or even himself on the wing.

Why this big drama, because we might need to play 2 lads on the wings who've played probably 40-50 games each and scoring 20 odd tries last year between them. Your atcing like we're throwing in Johnny Briggs or something.

Whilst this is true, how much do we expect Mick Potter to know about Lowes? Or for that matter, Penny, Riley, Blythe and/or Johnson and Bridge?

With Blythe, Bridge, Hicks, Riley, Penny, PJ and King in the squad, there are multiple possible combinations for the backline.

The obvious one would perhaps be

Bridge
Hicks
King
PJ
Riley

But would it be that inconceivable to see Blythe at Centre?
Or Bridge at Centre with King on the Wing (see Quins away last year) and Hicks - or even Riley - at Full Back?

Any little thing to keep people guessing is good IMO.

I'd prefer us to have Hicks at fullback for this one then Bridge, I'd definatley have Bridge on the bench though. Riley and Penny on the wings, Johnson and King at centre.

However, he could move Johnson to one of the wings (move Bridge to centre) and take out either Penny or Riley.

Penny played Full-Back quite a few times for the academy when Riley was injured.

Hicks played the last 16 or so rounds of SL at fullback.

Riley played there in Junior rugby and from all accounts thinks that in an ideal world that's his favoured position.

Bridge started last season there, obviously had a period of training with that position in mind.

He'd go to one of those three way before putting Penny there who's never played there, especially given the opposition.

Losing Gleeson, with PJ fit, easily get back to straight swap what we had at the back end of 2007.

1. Hicks
2. Riley
3. PJ
4. King
5. Penny

No dramas.

Spot on mate thats what i have also .. No Dramas lets got on with it ..

Look at the squad named for HKR. That wasn't listed in the final starting order but if looked at by a novice it could read that way.

If Lowes has any sense (I'm sure he does) he'll have his starting 13 sorted out for a while now. Loosing Gleeson means he just has to replace that slot & keep the rest the same.

The only worry is having to drop two from that 19 & keep cover in both back row & the backs.

Perhaps we should have protected our players more by letting them play more friendlies rather than leaving them with the trainers ?
