There's one in Hull near the docks that is good, shame I had to explain what a split was when I asked for split and a fish, got a very funny look for that one .... oh and the only chippy I know that sells potato pies, very odd

I hanvnt been near a chippy for years,but when i was a lad the bears paw did a splendid split fish 2 rounds of bread and a pot o tea,spent many a saturday afternoon with my nan in there.In fact i still go to the same building on the odd saturday night,at times i can still smell the fish

Anyone remember when it was Alfies, now that was a proper chippy. Alf used to chop the wood with an axe behind the counter to throw in the open fire stove that fed the friers, meanwhile Annie did the serving.
If Alf's was shut there was always Keith's (now Chans) a few yards away.
Probably the 2 best chippies around at the time.
