The really fun thing about that sort of situation is a few hundred yards down the road when they realise that "four wheel drive" doesn't equate to "four wheel braking", I know someone who slid all the way down Long Causeway in Adel, right through the lights at red, across all four lanes of the ring road and ended parking his Range Rover on the grass verge of the donkey sanctuary - quite appropriate place to leave it actually

My old Landrover was slightly grippier than the average in snow, but the real benefit was that I was basically driving a tank that cost 600 quid. I didn't really care if it ran into anything..

Too much ice and snow to get my car out this morning.

Had to take the bloody bus into town, to get to the gym.

That said the road I have to get out of, is an old country lane (very narrow and curves), not gritted, so I'm not risking bashing into the side of a stone wall!! It stays where it is. It's not the most ideal of motors in these conditions anyway. My old man warned me!! Did I listen??? Nup. Did he laugh when I told him? Yup.

Some tw@ went to pull out in front of me from the needless car park on the big hill coming down from Morley to Batley where the golf club is (Scotchman Lane), causing me to shit it and break sharply, skidding as I went. Wound the window down and called him a daft c***. He was oblivious to what he'd done.

He then pulled out behind me and proceeded to overtake at speed. Caught up with him 200 yds down the road as he got stuck behind another careful motorist. This disappointed me as part of me was hoping I'd encounter him wrapped round a tree, but alas, no.

Too old for that!!!

I like nippy cars, lets just leave it at that.

When it rains heavy, or we get any kind of severe negative weather I react like Stains in a Grand Final!!

'r lass' Focus must have left alright this morning, no crash marks anywhere. I'll have to review this car thing.

It may have ended up like that if I'd have taken it out!! I went out yesterday in it, slid around abit in it, I made it home alive without crashing, so its best left in the drive today.

My faith in human kindness has been restored.

My car is a bit sporty with nice fat tyres (not going to be crass and boast about what type) and I got myself stuck on a hill today. A young man whom I might've usually derided as a boy racer very kindly got out of his car, fetched some rock-salt and gave me a push to get me on my way.

The people of Batley are so much friendlier than the fekkwitt population of Leeds.

Quote:Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

Yesterday On the aformentioned Scotchman Lane just where it levels out before going down again, a lady was outside her house shoveling rock salt from a wheel barrow and throwing it into the road.

I made a point of thanking her and was going to email look north about it but cant find a link.

It would have been much easier for her to sit indoors with her feet up watching TV but it made me think there are some decent folk left i nthis world.
