I think it's SO as in 'Stand Off' as opposed to (what I assume you meant) State of Origin.

I think too many people have put Lyon on a pedestal, yes he is a great player but not as great as some are making out.

Last time round he was playing with Vinnie Anderson as his inside 2nd row,he was often put into situations by Anderson that left him one on one with a defender.....any good centre should do well one on one.

Not knocking Lyon but the love affair the second time round isn't usually as good as the first.

Also, people are automatically assuming he will play at 3....what about Gidley? What about the fact since his return home he has played SO?
That`s right, Lyon was poop and Vinnie Anderson is the best player ever :?

Variables people,variables

If Jamie Lyon is a legend, then the word is used far to easily, and we may as well describe Rickey Bibey as a legend.

You got a short memory sunshine, the 2 seasons he was with us he was one of the best I've ever seen, absolutely brilliant. Remember thegame at little Leigh when he was on the bench? He came on and we were staring defeat in the face and he turned it round. That's just 1 thing that springs to mind. Jamie Lyon would hold any centre in the world back, never mind some young lad just plying his trade. Don't forget that Gidley will be leaving after this season so Jamie Foster and the rest can try to claim his position.

Oops, reading further down I think I may have been jumping the gun, thought you were being serious, then I remember you're a manc so it would be impossible for you to be serious about anything! :P

To be fair, I have heard the 'rumour' too. I imagine we'll be making enquiries as a replacement for Gidley as there doesn't appear to be much coming through the youth. Replacing both Gidley and Talau is a tough ask.

When I spoke to Tony Colquitt in Australia, he told me that a deal was already in place but it would have been a breach of his Manly contract to make it public. Well infact, he said something about an Australian centre returning next season - no names were mentioned. Unless Mal Meninga is ready to get his boots back on again, I presume it is Lyon.

Although saying this, Mr Colquitt did tell me Gary Wheeler would be getting the number 4 jersey!

I think Gidley has more than a season in his legs,he's kept himself in good nick, obviously isn't playing rep football and has a great rugby brain on him that probably puts him 2 yard quicker than most (ala Teddy Sheringham of football if you will).

I agree Gidley has another couple of seasons in him. It would be great though 3.Gidley and 4.Lyon on the teamsheet. :)

No chance, if anything Willie T was the fresher of the two as the season ended.
