Think we had to offer the longer deal to give us the advantage over other teams. If he keeps us up it pays for itself immediately though!

Michael Mancienne was in the Germany squad, does that mean he's one of the elite defenders in the country? On the topic of the Germany game, Bullard couldn't even get a game, despite having numerous midfielders missing.

Maybe so, but he needs the quality around him. Will Brown play Mendy on the right? Can Geovanni play on the left wing? For Bullard to pay off, he needs a good partner in the middle of the park.
