So your original comment was rather off the mark then, as I stated.

Take Fisher (yet to play in a top flight play-off game, I believe), Gene, and Crossman (bit-part players in good teams) off Zod's list and you have, at most, 9 from last seasons squad of roughly 25 who have played in teams that have had better seasons than Rovers did last year.

That still leaves 16 who probably have not (don't ask me to list them all as I can't be arsed). That is a majority.

'Almost to a man' is a bit strong, I admit, but no need to get on your high horse. There are more ridiculous statements on this thread!

1. Shaun Briscoe - GF Appearance 2006. Finished in the play-offs in every club he has played at apart from this season.
2. Peter Fox - Best year of his career (highest finish and England cap)
3. Chev Walker - GF, WCC and a handful of GB caps.
4. Jake Webster - NRL League Leader and NZ caps.
5. Daniel Fitzhenry - NRL GF winner 2005 and West Tigers top try-scorer
6. Paul Cooke - CC winner 2005. GF appearance 2006. Probably the worst year in his professional career, really (suspensions, being dropped, etc.)
7. James Webster - Got injured and layed off. Definitely not his best year!
8. Garret Crossman - Involved in Melbourne League Leaders squad in 2006 and 2007 (didn't play in final).
9. Ben Fisher - Highest finish of his career.
10. David Mills - Finished 7th twice previously and had better years in both.
11. Clint Newton - NRL GF winner 2007
12. Ben Galea - NRL GF winner 2005
13. Scott Murrell - Highest finish of his career.
14. Stanley Gene - WCC 2006 + highest finish.
15. Ben Cockayne - Best year of his career most likely.
16. Jason Netherton - Highest finish of his career, but played half as many games as the previous year. Arguable.
17. Makali Aizue - Best year of his career most likely,
18. Rhys Lovegrove - Best year of his career most likely.

19. Luke Menzies - Played one game as a sub and went back to Batley because of a clause in his contract.
20. Mick Vella - NRL GF appearance 2001 and NSW/Australia caps.
21. Jon Steel - Best year of his career most likely.
22. Kirk Netherton - Best year of his career most likely.
23. Chaz I’anson - Best year of his career most likely.
24. Liam Watts - Debut season.
25. Kris Welham - Best year of his career most likely.

26. Michael Dobson - Only played half a season for Rovers. The other half he barely got played at Canberra.
27. Lee Gommersall - Played in one game.
28. Chris Chester - CC winner 2005. GF appearances in 2001 and 2006. Retired through injury. Probably the worst year of his career.

12 out of 28 had arguably a better season this year at Rovers than elsewhere. The majority have had better years elsewhere.

The majority of the players that had a better year are up-and-coming youngsters that played a handful of games more than they did the previous year (which was also a handful of games).

If you are going to make a controversial comment, at least look it up. If you aren't sure about something, don't make bold assertations otherwise you will be criticised. That's not riding a high-horse, that's just the facts of life. The comment you made was incorrect.

Mars wrote:The point I was trying to make was that Hull certainly underachieved last season and Hull KR probably overachieved. All things being equal, this will be rectified this season. I stand by that as a fair comment.

It was close between 7th and 10th in the league, so you could argue that they over-achieved, yes. However, I personally don't see 7th as much of an achievement anyway.

Hull certainly underachieved in the SL, and anyone who tries to argue otherwise is only going to look foolish (I think even the most biased of Rovers fans will accept that Hull had a shocking season and didn't expect them to do so badly). I will say that is a fair comment you have made and one which I agree with.

Poor attempt. It is possible to fluke a CC final but it isn't possible to fluke three major finals in four seasons (winning one). This is something you won't have to worry about in your life time.

I would say elevating Hull KR to mediocrity in SL is a bigger achievement than most of these players could have previously claimed. Some I will give you, but you are taking the p*ss with others.

Hull = probable top 6 / possible top 4 contenders.
Hull KR = probable bottom 6 / possible bottom 4 cannon fodder

I thought I was the deluded one...

And as for Rovers improving into the play-offs with the stellar addition of Fozzard and, er, .... , best of luck! Back in the real world you have next to no chance.

Nurse, nurse!!!

At the risk of upsetting further of my fellow Hull FC fans, there is an irony here that there are grammatical errors in both of these posts!

But yes, hullkrforever is a bumbling idiot!
