Hull and Rovers have definitely played against each other on Christmas Day.

Artie Beetson broke his leg playing for Rovers against Hull in '68

You are right about not recreating the atmosphere, it was plain rubbish at the Boulevard in the final 10 years of playing there. The only noise generated was from one stand which ran only one third of the pitch and couldn't be heard at any other point in the ground.

I think you had problems with your hearing because I stood opposite the 3d stand until I'd had enough of hearing how much louder it was over there and went and joined them. In fact, you could hear Threepenny in full swing from the Airlie street turnstiles half an hour before kick off.

The words of fools mean nothing to one who resides in the truth.

Then your memory was dulled by beer, 3d was never loud compared to when it was the full length of the ground.

That's probably true, but what Raggytash said was true also.

The big problem is these all seater stadiums. If the core singers cannot move around the ground to sing together then it becomes almost impossible to start and maintain multiple songs in unison. Unfortunately we shall never see a standing area again which i think is a great shame. It won't be long before the seats are fitted with seat belts to stop you "accidentally" standing up during the game.

No, I dont, I go to as many games as I can.

But crack on, you keep the stereotype of FC fans alive and well.

With you on this standee.

If you were at the scoreboard end then you could hear the muffled noise of the 100 or so who actually sang in the standing part of the 3d.

Anyone who thinks all those in that part of the stand sung are just plain wrong. A bit like anyone who thinks one third of one stand could generate a great atmoshere are deluded.

For the poster who claimed being close to the pitch contributes more to the atmosphere rather then the fans, needs to visit The Brittania in Stoke (not that close to the pitch but unreal atmosphere) and Loftus Road (very cramped and quieter than a parlour of rest. Also, I seem to remember the atmosphere at the old Wembley was good despite being miles from the pitch.
