Ricky Stuart has stood down as coach of the Australian team today following an investigation by the Rugby League International Federation into his behaviour after the Kangaroos lost the World Cup final to New Zealand last month.
The federation fined Stuart $20,000 and the coach informed the Australian Rugby League that he no longer wished to coach the national team.

Well then, if Meninga gets the job, I think the most important question is who will be his assistant?
Sticky is a dumbass for saying what he said. He has been fantastic for the Kangaroos and I regret that he must step down. I really don't feel there's a standout replacement.
I guess Meninga as coach and someone like Gould as his assistant would be best, but I definitely can't see that happening.
